Kyzylorda region has a small town which's name was in a state secret. Today all over the world know about this town. Baikonur – is a place, which has become a gateway to space for all of humanity.
There is located unique museum about the history of the Baikonur Cosmodrome.
The museum is located in the building of the Palace of Culture. It was opened on 7 November 1967. The creation date of the museum was not random. It was dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the October Socialist Revolution.
Initially, the entire exhibition of the museum fitted in one room which was located in the Garrison Officers' House-builders / h 12253.
Today the museum has grown and expanded theme of exhibitions, opened new halls. Currently, the museum has four rooms and a private exhibition gallery.
The collection of the museum fund has more than 15,000 items. Most of them exhibit in museum halls.
Visitors can learn about the history of the spaceport, today's life and the prospects for further development. They can learn about the people who paved the way into space, about an outstanding scientists and constructors. In addition, visitors can know all shadows of the history, thousands of engineers, workers and employees, investigators of rocket and space technology, military constructors.
The first hall - Military and labor glory of Baikonur.
The opening of this hall was the beginning of the foundation Baikonur museum. The exhibition saved all traditions and preserved the era of the Soviet period. The visitor can learn about the work and life of military engineers and testers of Baikonur cosmodrome. The theme of the Great Patriotic War and the pioneers of Baikonur was broadly reflected. The shape of the war years, letters, documents, photographs, objects and personal belongings of participants in the war are presented in this hall.
Exposure open the theme of construction of complexes and foundation of the city. The structure of the military cosmodrome is presented here and tells about military testers.
The second hall - Stories of rocket and space technology and space exploration.
Thematically, the exhibition was built on the activities of the great designers as Korolev S.P., Chelomeya V.N. and Yangelya M.K.. More than one hundred highly accurate models of rockets and spacecrafts are presented in this exhibition. Here are exposed fragments of rocket and space technology, documents and photographs that reflect both historical landmarks and modern spaceport, also the future prospects for further development.
The compartment-manned space attract attention of visitors with a model of the International Space Station in the full configuration space, suit "Sokol-K", inscribed board costumes with autographs of astronauts and means of medical and biological protection, which the astronauts use on the board the ISS, samples of space food and many other things for life on orbit.
The third hall is Ethnographic.
Exposure of the hall reveals the history of the Cheese earth on which the Baikonur Cosmodrome is located and the light of historical milestones in the development of Kazakhstan from the earliest times to the present. The presented exhibits are the objects of archaeological excavations, life and culture.
The hall also tells about life of Kazakh people: a fragment of the yurt, the interior, the collection of folk musical instruments and costumes, samples of the folk crafts.
A large video library with movies about the space, Baikonur Cosmodrome, educational and non-fiction films about astronomy are assembled in the museum of Baikonur Cosmodrome. In addition, there is a unique library of books on the subject of space and the spaceport.
The museum is very popular among all visitors of Baikonur. Considering the closed status of the city there are not so much tourists, but the museum hosts more than 10,000 visitors each year.
Gani Muratbaev Memorial Museum is located in Kazali, Kyzylorda region. An extraordinary man was born in this small provincial town in 1902.
Aral regional Local History Museum was founded on 25 June 1988. According to the hard work of the staff of the museum, they were able to collect a large number of exhibits which tell the regional history. To date, the museum has about 8000 exhibits; most of them exhibit in the museum’s display.
