An impressive monument of architecture - the Mausoleum of Abdul-Aziz -Baba is located in Sairam district, South Kazakhstan. The fact of religious building's construction is belonging to the Karakhanids' era IX century.
Ishidzhab (currently Sairam) referred to the first-class military fortress in the historical chronicles of the IX-X centuries. Even today visitors can see remains of the famous White House (translation is Sairam). It presents ruins of walls, bastions and ruined mosque minarets Bazalakat (XIIc.) with a spiral staircase and a dilapidated entrance. Mausoleums Karashash ana (XIX century) and Abdul-Aziz Baba (XVI century) are monuments of religious architecture.
The name of the mausoleum presents a Kazakh version of the Arabic male name Abd al-Aziz, which means "slave of the Great". Biography of Abd al-Aziz is given by anonymous' essay "Rizal", which relates to the number of the first followers of the Prophet Muhammad. According to oral tradition, Abd al-Aziz lived 300 years before the Kozhakhmet Yassaui, which coincides with time of the approval of Islam in this region. According to historical data, in 766, detachment of Arab volunteers stepped in territory of modern Kazakhstan under the leadership of Iskak Baba. Standard-bearer of this detachment was Abdel-Aziz Baba, who showed true heroism in spreading the Islam. His education, persistence and unshakeable loyalty to the Islam were immediately caught by eyes. Saint, discourage misfortune and clear of slander, people called - Balegerdan (banishing trouble). He went down in history with this name.
Mausoleum in honor of Abd-al- Aziz -Baba was built in the XVI century. It presents three corner constructions. Area - 11 x 6 m, height - 10 m. There are three rooms in the center - a place of worship, on the sides - two tombs in the mausoleum. On the north side lie the remains of Abd al Aziz Baba, on the other side, in the direction of his feet, lies Seit Kozhakhan-ata.
Mausoleum of Abdel Aziz Baba is an architectural building with traditional portal-dome construction of medieval architecture in the Southern Kazakhstan.
It was built of brick square. To the main bulk was added two later, the room at different times, also covered by the dome. The central part of the main dome is crowned by a high drum and highlighted with powerful peshtak, lancet deep arched niche in the U-shaped frame. In the decoration of the portal used texture of face masonry, plaster augmented with details - angled curly half-columns, twisted wiring stucco archivolt.
The interior has 3-square space in the exhibition hall, which communicated by wide openings in the central hall, opposite to the entrance is located the mihrab. On the northern facade of the portal side at around 0,820 is a guest entrance to the spiral staircase, which leads to the roof.
The floors are brick on a sand cushion.
Unfortunately, the mausoleum lost adorned ornaments over the years, and the construction received considerable damage itself due to rain, fire, and military action.
Originally built mazar, unable to stand the test of time, showered and collapsed. It was renovated and some buildings rebuilt in the XIX century.
During the construction of this landmark were used advanced techniques of architectural art of that time. Samples of beautiful ornaments, tile masonry, wood carving, etc. preserved. They are wonderful examples of folk arts and crafts.
The mausoleum was undergoing renovation, dome was faced with a white sheet tin, and entrance and doors between rooms of mazar replaced with new ones in 1996.
