There is a place on the outskirts of the West Kazakhstan region (Horde village), which had played an important role in the historical development of Kazakhstan. Zhangir Khan city and Bukeyev's Horde are complex of monuments of wooden architecture in the beginning of the XIX century. Today, most of the existing buildings are restored and taken under state protection. There is a museum complex in the place of the Khan's rate, which is an architectural monument.

Bukeyev's Horde was founded in 1801 by sultan Bokey. Sultan Bokey's son was born in 1801, whose name was Zhangir. Zhangir Khan was a legend man, who was often compared with the Emperor I Peter. Zhangir initiated a settled life in these places. The settlement, which started from Khan's house, grew up till Khan's rate, and it was the first center of political, economic and cultural life in Bukeyev's Horde. During his management of 22 years, Zhangir Khan opened the Kazakh-Russian school, two mosques, medical center, pharmacy and the first in Kazakhstan Treasury in Horde, 1804. These were serious reforms in the Kazakh steppe. Zhangir had an extensive library and armory in his own house, where were 23 rooms.

Before deciding where to locate the rate, Zhangir Khan consulted with the famous scientists-geographers of that time. The fresh water is close to the ground surface here, which explains that poplars, elms, oaks, birches, maples and acacia grow on the sands. And even the willow grows. But the greatest miracle is pine forest, which is located on the outskirts of the Horde. Forest area was 16,000 hectares during time of Zhangir Khan. Zhangir Khan appointed rangers in order to assure the conservation of the forest.

The compound of the historical museum complex includes Historical Museum of Bukeyev's Horde, the Museum of Independence, the Armoury of khan's palace, the Museum of Public Education in Bukeyev Horde, House of A. Sergachev, pedtechkum building which was built in 1868, and the pantheon of memory that consists of three mausoleums Zhangir Khan Dauletkerey (cousin of the Khan), Muhamedsalyk Babadzhanov (scholar of Khan, a historian and ethnographer, whose ashes were reburied in the territory of the military training area). All three mausoleums has different architectural styles. Each has own majestic and solemn.

The Historical Museum of Bukeyev's horde is on the place of former Treasury. The hall contains exhibits of pre-revolutionary period of the XIX century, which tell about the region of Zhangir. These unique documents and photographs, mail, quiver and arrows, saddle and harness, swords and daggers, ancient dombra - all recreate the atmosphere of that time.

Creation of the museum was started in the Soviet times, as soon as there was interest to Bukeyev's Horde time. In 1962, the museum was founded at Horde school, where 35 exhibits were gathered. The museum complex started from this small museum.

According to archival photographs, former public buildings were restored: outbuilding of the doctor Sergachev, who was the personal doctor of Khan; pedagogical school building, which was founded in 1868; the eastern part of the Zhangir palace - armory, living room, and dining room. Each exhibit in the Armory is art work: blades, helmet, chain mail, harness. All the furniture of the living and dining rooms, furnishings and dishes relate to the XIX century. According to scientists, ethnographers and historians, all show how Zhangir Khan lived.

Khan's Mosque building should be told separately. They say that it is unlikely to see such architectural decision. It combines Western and European styles. This is not random. Zhangir Khan is considered as the first Eurasian, who taught people to live in peace and harmony with other nationalities. The mosque has the Museum of Independence, the collections of which tell about the formation of a sovereign Kazakhstan.

Several thousand tourists visit annually the Khan rate Bukeyev's Horde. Despite the relative remoteness of this place, it attracts people, who are interested in the history of Kazakhstan. The complex has a hotel, where visitors can spend several days for studying the monuments and museums in detail, and touch the living history by feeling the spirit and beauty of the places where was a town of Zhangir Khan.
